Atelier Arena

Bespoke tailor and founder Tom Arena was born and raised in South East London by Italian and Irish parents. His interest in clothing started at a tender age alongside his other loves; music, art and cinema.

After leaving art college he began his career at legendary Savile Row tailor, Huntsman, where he trained as a cutter. He instantly understood the dedication and expertise required to make garments at such a level. After five years he moved to renowned British designer, Paul Smith, where he earned the role of Head Cutter. Tom’s pieces worked beautifully with the Paul Smith attention to colour, pattern and detail, and during his twenty year tenure he successfully helped to grow the business internationally.

In September 2021 Tom decided to set up his own studio in St James’s, London, bringing his fresh approach and vision to bespoke tailoring.

Tom’s beautifully made clothes have won him many clients including Oscar winners, knights of the realm and leaders in art, design and finance.

The ultimate in luxury, an Atelier Arena bespoke suit really is a piece of sartorial splendour. Having trained at Huntsman in Savile Row, Tom learned their traditional methods including the 19th century ‘Thornton’ system, which he still uses today.

Tom’s much-admired cut is structured upon long clean lines, high arm holes and beautifully roped sleeve heads. He also appreciates a softer cut – a nod to his Italian heritage, which he uses in relaxed sports coats and blazers.

Tom’s suits are cut in St James’s and completely handmade. From initial consultation to pattern drafting, fitting and final try-on, the whole process is thrillingly analogue.

Inspired by his extensive tailoring knowledge, Tom has designed and cut wardrobe staples in traditional and contemporary styles using leather, suede and vintage fabrics. This has created one-of-a-kind pieces and special commissions with impeccable attention to detail.
